Grandma Brocato made this sauce. She would leave it on the stove all day long. Everything she made tasted Old World and wonderful. I don't have that magic touch (or patience), but I enjoy trying to replicate that special flavor.

Love butter beans, bet this would be good with some chopped, smoked ham and a big slice of warm cornbread. Thanks, will be trying this very soon...

Love those Grandma's! Cooking to them was an art. Can you imagine cooking and no convenience products to help it along... OMG! What a thought!
I love Lima's... so this is a must. Thanks!
Remember, everything Grandma made was better.. or at least it seemed that way to me! But I'm a Grandma now... so I hope my Grand kids feel the same!

I could use a good fagiole soup - my ex mother in law made a great one and was spoiled after that- and since I have been divorced (many years now) - and hapily :-) but still I havent had homemade great fagiole - I should give yours a try - thank you for sharing your recipe with us all!

This is similar to my Dads recipe. I smash my garlic the same way it is quick and you only have to clean one utensil..the knife.
You have my 5 fork rating
