Ingredients

1 3/4 cup flour

1 1/2 cup cornstarch

2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp ground cardamon

1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

1/2 tsp nutmeg

1/2 tsp ginger

1/2 tsp allspice

pinch of salt

1/2 tsp ground black pepper

1 cup butter

1/2 cup light brown sugar

1/2 tsp vanilla

1 tsp grated lemon rind

1/4 cup whipping cream

3/4 cup finely ground almonds

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Sift together flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and spices. Set aside.

Cream butter and brown sugar util light and fluffy. Beat in vanilla and lemon rind.

Add flour mixture alternately with the whipping cream, beginning and ending with flour.

Stir in the ground ground almonds.

Shape the dough into 1/4 inch balls. Place them on ungreased sheets. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown underneath.

Leave cookies on the baking sheet for about 1 minute to firm up slightly before transferring them to a wire rack.
