Ingredients

How to make it

  • Fry bacon until crispy and set aside.
  • In the same pan, saute onion, mushrooms, and garlic.
  • Cook for about 3 minutes.
  • Add apple, toss, and cover.
  • Cook for about 3 minutes.
  • In another large pot, bring water to a boil.
  • Add Swiss Chard
  • Toss until wilted
  • Drain
  • Stir in hot mushroom mix.
  • Season with salt, pepper, and cider vinegar.
  • Garnish with warm bacon.

    I made this last night & it was marvelous! I served it over couscous, used previosly sauted & frozen Chanterelle mushrooms instead of fresh white ones and omitted the vinegar. Really delicious! I love chard & will make this recipe part of my regular repertoire. Thanks for the post!

    This sounds pretty good. I've tried wilted lettuce with bacon bits and the hot grease poured over. Never heard of it until I moved to Mn. or rhubarb either. Love rhubarb pie and sauce over biscuits.
