I have been looking for a recipe like this for ages. Thank you so much for a great post. I've added this recipe to my 2008 Christmas Cookie list.

Not to sound totally dense or anything, but how exactly do you shape them? Roll into balls and flatten? Sorry I'm being obtuse ... or maybe I'm just tired ... it's just that they sound so good and I'd like to try making them.

I guess you can roll the dough (a little more than a large tbs) into a log shape and then flatten slightly. when I make them , they look like an egg that's been cut in half length-wise. I hope this helps. I guess I'm just so used to making them with my mom for the past 30 yrs that I didn't think of that. Sorry!

Greekgirrl, are these the traditional Easter cookie? I was given some Greek Almond cookies last Easter, but the person won't share the recipe. Don't you just hate that??
