Maple-Nut Scones

- Topping shopping list
- 3 Tbl flour shopping list
- 2 Tbl sugar shopping list
- 2 Tbl finely chopped walnuts, toasted (or your preference) shopping list
- 2 Tbl butter shopping list
- Scones shopping list
- 2 Cups of flour shopping list
- 2 Tbl packed brown sugar shopping list
- 2 tsp baking powder shopping list
- 1/4 tsp salt shopping list
- 1/2 Cup firm butter, sliced into pats shopping list
- 1/2 C coarsely chopped walnuts, toasted shopping list
- 1/3 C maple syrup or maple flavored syrup shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
- about 2 Tbl milk or cream shopping list
- Additional milk or cream shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 400, is using dark pan 375
- To toast nuts bake on a cookie sheet, uncovered at 350 for 6 - 10 minutes until golden, stirring occasionally
- In a small bowl, mix topping ingredients, cutting in butter with pastry blender until crumbly, set aside
- In a large bowl, mix 2 Cups flour, the brown sugar, baking powder and salt
- Cut in the butter with pastry blender until finely crumbed
- Stir in 1/2 nuts
- Stir in syrup, egg and just enough of the 2 Tbl of milk or cream so that dough leaves the side of the bowl and starts to form a ball
- Place dough on lightly floured surface; gently roll in the flour to coat the dough.
- Knead GENTLY 10 times
- Pat or roll into an 8 inch circle on ungreased cookie sheet.
- Brush with additional milk
- Sprinkle with topping
- Cut into 8 wedges, but do not separate
- Bake at 350 15-18 minutes for shiny pans and at 375 for 18-21 minutes for dark or coated pans

I saved this one Pat. I love scones and maple ones oh yum! Will have to try this one next! I have to wait awhile though... TOO many valentine cookies for me this week. I SAID I made them for my grandchildren! This is a 5!
