Ingredients
  • Baked 9 inch pie crust
  • 1 can Cherry Pie Filling
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure almond extract
  • 1/2 pint whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • Toasted almonds, for sprinkling before serving

Directions
  1. In bowl, combine cherry pie filling, 2 tablespoons sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon pure almond extract
  2. Set aside
  3. In bowl, beat whipping cream, adding 1/4 cup sugar gradually
  4. Gently fold sour cream into the *whipped* cream
  5. Spoon about 1/2 cherry mixture into the baked pie crust
  6. Spread about 2/3 of the whipped cream/sour cream mixture over the cherries
  7. Then gently spoon the remaining cherries over this
  8. Spoon the 1/3 remaining whipped cream mixture over this
  9. Chill until firm, about 2 hours
  10. NOTE: may sprinkle with toasted almonds before serving

OH my......cheery pie! Such good stuff, ya gotta love it. Thanks for posting this recipe!


I've been wanting to try this since you posted it, and I finally, finally got to make it - and it's just as fantastic as it reads. I wanted to make my own cherry pie filling, but I used the dark sweet cherries before I thought about it, and it was still worth licking the saucer!
