Ingredients

How to make it

  • In bowl, combine cherry pie filling, 2 tablespoons sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon pure almond extract
  • Set aside
  • In bowl, beat whipping cream, adding 1/4 cup sugar gradually
  • Gently fold sour cream into the *whipped* cream
  • Spoon about 1/2 cherry mixture into the baked pie crust
  • Spread about 2/3 of the whipped cream/sour cream mixture over the cherries
  • Then gently spoon the remaining cherries over this
  • Spoon the 1/3 remaining whipped cream mixture over this
  • Chill until firm, about 2 hours
  • NOTE: may sprinkle with toasted almonds before serving

    I've been wanting to try this since you posted it, and I finally, finally got to make it - and it's just as fantastic as it reads. I wanted to make my own cherry pie filling, but I used the dark sweet cherries before I thought about it, and it was still worth licking the saucer!
