From coffeebean53 16 years agoIngredients
- 1 c. butter, softened shopping list
- 1 c. granulated sugar shopping list
- 1 large egg shopping list
- 3 ½ c. all purpose flour shopping list
- 1 tsp baking powder shopping list
- 1 tsp ground nutmeg shopping list
- 1/8 tsp salt shopping list
- ½ c. buttermilk shopping list
How to make it
- In a large bowl, with a mixer on medium speed, beat butter and sugar until creamy. Beat in egg until well blended.
- In a medium bowl, mix flour, baking soda, nutmeg and salt. Add to butter mixture alternately with buttermilk, beating thoroughly after each addition. Gather dough into a ball, wrap tightly with plastic wrap, and refrigerate until firm, 2-3 hours or up to 3 days.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. On a well floured board, roll out dough, a portion at a time, to a thickness of about 1/8 of an inch (keep remaining dough refrigerated.) Cut out with a 2 ½ inch cookie cuter and place slightly apart on an ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake for about 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Transfer to a cooling rack and let cool. Store in an airtight container.
