How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees
  • Grease an 8 in. round cake pan
  • Mix the dry ingredients.
  • Cut in the margarine.
  • Beat the egg and milk and mix into the dry ingredients till dough holds.
  • Add the fruit or chips if desired.
  • Form into ball and knead 12 times.
  • Place in pie pan and pat into 6 in. circle, 3/4 inch deep.
  • Cut into 4 to 6 wedges, NOT all the way through.
  • Sprinkle top with sugar or mixture of cinnamon/sugar
  • Bake 8-10 minutes or till golden.
  • Serve warm with extra butter, jam and tea or coffee
