Spicy Indian Chicken Skewers Recipe

Ingredients
  • 6 chicken breast fillets
  • 2 red onions
  • 1 large green pepper
  • 2 cups of thick, high quality live yogurt
  • 1 ts of coarse salt
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • 3 tbs grated fresh ginger
  • 2 ts turmeric
  • 3 tbs chopped coriander/cilantro (leaves, stems and roots)
  • 1 large green chili pepper, de-seeded and chopped (more or less depending on what you like)

Directions
  1. Cut each chicken fillet in 6 equally large chunks
  2. Peal the onions and cut each into 6 wedges
  3. Remove the seeds from the pepper and cut it in 12 chunks
  4. Put the salt and the garlic into a large mortar and grind to a pulp
  5. Add the ginger, coriander and chili pepper
  6. Stir the mix from the mortar into the yogurt in a bowl with the turmeric
  7. Push the chicken peaces into the marinade so they are all covered. eave for 2 to 12 hours
  8. When it's time to prepare the skewers, leave some of the marinade on the chicken peaces and thread them on the skewers, alternating with peaces of onion and pepper
  9. Grill in a very hot oven (250 C, 480 F) for approximately 20 minutes. Watch closely the last 5 minutes
