Ingredients
  • 2 bunches fresh cilantro - washed
  • 1 head of garlic - yes a complete head
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice (6-8 lemons)
  • 1 tablespoon or more of Cardamom - freshly ground
  • 2 or more Hot peppers, dried scotch bonnets or green chilies
  • 1/4-1/2 cup olive oil
  • Salt to taste

Directions
  1. Place all ingredients into your food processor and ground till it becomes a pulp consistency.
  2. Use if you dare as a condiment to anything - it really makes a plain dish pop with glee.
  3. Suggestions include topping toasted bread, grilled meats as a relish, a dollop on fried eggs, etc.

Oh Yum! I think this would be divine on smoked chicken. I love these flavors. Cilantro,garlic and lemon oh wow! The cardamom is a twist, how much did you add? I think this would be an awesome marinade also. Great post!


Sounds lovely hon but I don't do cilantro-I'm one of those-tastes like soap to me. Suggestions? Half parsley and half basil?


I love the extra kick from all that garlic and the exotic flavor from the Cardamom.

I made this sauce tonight and it was just as I thought WONDERFUL ! If I could I would give you another 5. I poured it over corn on the cob and even tried it on tortilla chips. I think this one is very versatile and will use it over and over again. Thanks!


Hi Diva! I'm making your cilantro relish again tonight. I am grilling chicken breasts that have been marinated in this and mixing a little in the mayo for grilled chicken sandwiches. I have to thank you again for this recipe, it's been a real winner in our house.
