How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 325
  • Heat Dutch oven on top of stove, adding oil
  • Add onions, garlic, and mushrooms (if not using canned) and cook until onions are translucent
  • Meanwhile, mix flour, salt and pepper in large bowl
  • Dredge beef in flour mixture until covered in mixture
  • Add beef to pot, brown on all sides
  • Add all other ingredients and mix together
  • Place in oven and bake for 2-1/2 hours
  • Serve over rice, mashed potatoes, or even spaghetti squash

    I love it when inspiration turns out well. Nice post, sounds very close to a favorite dish from Moock's tavern. The beef tips in gravy was marvelous and this sounds very much like their recipe.
