Mozzarella Filled Mini Meat Loaves Recipe

Do you have any picky children or for that matter, adults? Well, they are bound to enjoy these individual meat loaves with a little surprise inside! You can shape them with your hands or use a mini loaf pan. It's up to you.

Ingredients
  • 1 pound extra-lean ground beef (you could use ground turkey, or a combination of meats with the Italian sausage)
  • 3/4 pound Italian sausage
  • 1/2 onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup Italian-style seasoned bread crumbs
  • A dash of parsley and oregano (depends on who you are preparing them for)
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 3 - 4 ounces LAND O LAKES® Mozzarella Cheese, cut into 18 (1/2-inch) cubes
  • Pizza sauce, heated

Directions
  1. Pre-heat oven to 350°F.
  2. Combine beef, sausage, onion, bread crumbs, pizza sauce / spaghetti sauce, pepper and egg in medium bowl.
  3. Form beef mixture into 6 individual, oval-shaped loaves.
  4. Insert 3 cheese cubes into center of each loaf, reshaping loaves if necessary.
  5. Place loaves onto ungreased 13 x 9 inch baking pan.
  6. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes or until loaves are no longer pink in center (some cheese may ooze out during baking).
  7. To serve spoon heated pizza sauce or your favorite spaghetti sauce over meat loaves.
  8. Serves: 4 - 6

  10. Note: The original recipe is from LAND O LAKES® but I altered it a bit.
