Valentines Day Poke Cake OR Trifle

- 1 pkg. chocolate cake mix, 2 layer size shopping list
- 1 3 oz pkg. Cherry Jello shopping list
- 3/4 cup boiling water shopping list
- 1/2 cup cold water shopping list
- 1 can cherry pie filling shopping list
- 1 8 oz pkg. cream cheese, softened shopping list
- 1 cup icing sugar shopping list
- 1 large tub of Cool Whip shopping list
- 2/3 cup chocolate chips shopping list
- 2 tsp. oil shopping list
How to make it
- Make the cake mix according to package directions and bake it in a 9x13 pan.
- As soon as you get the cake in the oven, add the boiling water to the Jello stirring to dissolve. Stir in the cold water and set aside at room temperature.
- Remove cake from oven and place on rack for 20 minutes.
- Poke deep holes in top of cake about 1" apart using the end of a wooden spoon.
- Slowly pour Jello evenly over cake.
- Chill for about an hour.
- Spread cherry pie filling over cake and put back in fridge to chill.
- Beat cream cheese until soft and fluffy.
- Slowly add icing sugar and beat well.
- Fold in container of Cool Whip and spread over pie filling.
- Put in fridge while you make drizzle.
- Melt chocolate chips with oil on low heat stirring constantly.
- Drizzle randomly over Cool Whip.
- Refrigerate until ready to serve.
- OR AN ALTERNATIVE.....
- Cut the cake into cubes while it's still in the pan.
- Layer some of the cubes in the bottom of a deep bowl.
- Put a layer of pie filling over that followed by a layer of the cream cheese mixture.
- Repeat layers and end with the Cream Cheese.
- Drizzle chocolate over top.
- Refrigerate.
