How to make it

  • Cook ziti according to package directions
  • In a large bowl, mix both cans of sauce, mushrooms, black pepper, salt, 1 tsp. to 1 tbsp., to taste, each of oregano, basil, parsley, and crushed red pepper. I like a little more red pepper b/c it gives it that spicy zest. Add only 1 tsp. each of the onion powder and garlic powder.
  • Add 1 cup each of mozzarella and the extra sharp cheddar cheeses.
  • Add cooked and drained pasta to the bowl and mix thoroughly.
  • Add the entire mixture to a greased 9x13in. casserole dish.
  • Sprinkle with 1/2 to 1 cup each of the mozzarella and cheddar cheeses, depending on your tastes. Then lightly sprinkle the top with italian seasoning.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes or until cheese on top is completely melted and slightly golden.
  • Enjoy! The crushed red pepper and the extra sharp cheddar give it that added zest that everyone loves!
