How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  • Have all ingredients at room temperature.
  • Cream butter and sugar.
  • Add eggs, melted chocolate, and vanilla to creamed mixture.
  • Mix baking soda, flour, and salt.
  • Add to chocolate, alternating with sour cream.
  • Gradually add boiling water to mixture, blending well.
  • Pour into greased and floured tube pan.
  • Bake for 50-55 minutes or until done.
  • Cool in pan for 20 minutes before removing from pan.
  • Cool cake completely before frosting.
  • To prepare frosting, cream butter.
  • Add sugar, chocolate, and water.
  • Beat until creamy and smooth.
