Cream Puffs

- 1/2 cup water shopping list
- 1/4 cup / 4 tbsp butter shopping list
- 1 teaspoon granulated sugar shopping list
- 1/2 cup all purpose flour shopping list
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten shopping list
- 250 ml whipping cream shopping list
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence shopping list
- 3-4 tbsp icing sugar (or to taste) shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 180 C .Lightly grease the baking sheet .
- In a saucepan, combine water,sugar and butter. Bring to full boil on medium-high heat.
- When butter Is melted ,add in flour all at once.Stir well until the mixture leaves the sides of the pan and forms a ball of dough.
- Leave to cool for 4-5 minutes.
- Beat an egg in a separate bowl ,add to the dough. Mix well to incorporate.
- Repeat with second egg until the mixture is smooth.
- Drop or pipe 1-2 inches apart onto baking sheet.
- Bake puffs in oven for 20-25 minutes until the puffs are golden brown.
- When puffs are done , remove tray from oven and immediately use the tip of a sharp knife to prick each puff on the side to release steam and prevent them from getting soggy.
- Turn off the oven and return the puffs to the oven rack for 10 minutes to dry out, leaving the oven door slightly ajar.
- In a large bowl, place the whipping cream, vanilla, and sugar and stir to combine. Then whip the mixture until soft peaks form.
- When the cream puffs have cooled completely,cut the tops and fill with whipped cream.
- Cover with top of puff ,dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with melted chocolate,if you like.
- Serve and enjoy.
