How to make it

  • Pour apples into slow cooker.
  • Combine remaining ingredients.
  • Drizzle over apples
  • Cover and cook on high for 3 hours, stirring well with large spoon every hour.
  • Reduce heat to low and cook 10-12 hours, until butter becomes thick and dark in color.
  • Stir occasionally with wire whisk.
  • Freeze or pour into sterilized jars and seal

    Turlak, welcome to the world of canning! Nice to have you! Normally, if it has a good seal on it, I'll keep it for up to a year. And I never refrigerate my canned goods until I open them. Then it's a MUST to keep it from spoiling. Let me know how it turns out for you!

    This sounds easy and fun! I'm new at the canning thing, but I'm going to make gifts for the holidays this year. How long in advance can you make this? and it doesn't have to be refridgerated until it is opened, right? Thanks~Dawn

    That's going to be my project for one day this coming week. I'm canning apple butter in those cute little mason jars. Not only will the family enjoy it but when I need a quick gift all I have to do is decorate the jar with some pretty ribbon and I'm good to go. Thanks for the post!
