Oatmeal Cookies Original Recipe

Ingredients

Oatmeal Cookies (Original)

lost this recipe and searched and searched for it.

½ C shortening

½ C granulated sugar

½ C brown sugar

1 egg, beaten

1 t water

½ tsp. vanilla

¾ C sifted flour

½ tsp. baking soda

½ tsp. salt

1 ½ C quick, uncooked oats

½ C each raisins and nuts

Directions

Preheat oven to 375°

Cream shortening and sugars thoroughly. Stir in beaten egg,

water and vanilla. Sift together flour, baking soda and salt.

Add sifted ingredients, oats, raisins and nuts to sugar

mixture. Mix just until all is blended. Do not beat. Drop by

tablespoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets, 2 inches apart. Bake

10 to 15 minutes.

Thank you, I have also been looking for this for years. We made oatmeal cookies with a very similar recipe when I took a boy's home economics course in the 7th grade;just about 60 years ago.
