How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 375°
  • Cream shortening and sugars thoroughly. Stir in beaten egg,
  • water and vanilla. Sift together flour, baking soda and salt.
  • Add sifted ingredients, oats, raisins and nuts to sugar
  • mixture. Mix just until all is blended. Do not beat. Drop by
  • tablespoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets, 2 inches apart. Bake
  • 10 to 15 minutes.
  • 3 dozen cookies

    Thank you, I have also been looking for this for years. We made oatmeal cookies with a very similar recipe when I took a boy's home economics course in the 7th grade;just about 60 years ago.
