How to make it

  • Combine sirloin, garlic salt and pepper and blend well
  • Shape into four 1/4" thivk oval patties
  • Heat a large, heavy, non-stick skillet over medium-high until hot
  • Place patties in skillet, cook 3 minutes per side until browned
  • Transfer to a plate and pour off any drippings
  • Melt the butter in the skillet, add mushrooms. Cook and stir 2 minutes. Add vermouth; cook and stir 1 minute
  • Add gravy, mix well
  • Return patties to skillet: simmer uncovered over medium for 2 minutes or until desired doneness, turning once and stirring sauce
  • Spoon sauce over patty to serve and sprinkle with a little parsley or chive
  • If skillet is medium duty, use medium heat

    this reminds me of my dad - he loved his Salisbury Steak - will have to give this a try - my mom used to make it with a onion and tomato gravy that was heavenly - will have to dig it up and post it
