Cake Plain Pennsylvania German Recipe 1915 Ish Recipe
Found this on the net in an old cookbook, thought I would share.

Ingredients
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter (or butter and lard)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3 eggs
  • Alts:
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened chocolate
  • or
  • Small Fruit cake
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon cloves
  • 1 cup raisins (any dried fruit really)

Directions
  1. Mix all of the above together.
  2. Cook in a 13 by 9 inch pan for 30ish minutes at 350 degrees.
  3. Frost with boiled icing.
  4. This is a thick batter, you really have to spread it.
  5. I added more liguid then it called for and 1 less egg the second time around.
  6. It is a good cake, more of a pound cake to be honest.
