How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • In a large bowl combine the flour, powdered sugar, and salt.
  • Using a pastry blender or fork, cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Add vanilla and nuts.
  • Mix with hands to form a smooth dough.
  • Wrap the dough around a Hershey kiss so you can't see the chocolate.
  • Place on ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Bake at 400 degrees for 5 to 7 minutes.
  • Cool one minute and then remove from the cookie sheets.
  • Carefully roll in powdered sugar.
  • Store in tightly covered container or freeze.
  • Makes 5 dozen cookies.

    Butterballls have always been my all-time favorite Christmas cookie, Debra. I've never had them with hershey's kisses in the middle tho ..how could I have missed out on this variations all these years?! :)
    Last Christmas I made them with hazelnuts instead of walnuts... yum,yum,yum,yum!!!
