Since I found this recipe a few weeks ago, I have made two batches and the family loves it. I think it is going to be one of the favorite meals of this winter.

Another yummy soup to try this winter.

Where can one buy chicken flavored stock that does not have chicken in it? I have never heard of it before.

I am so glad you enjoyed the soup. I put a lot of butter in because my Husband is the thinest guy around. He is 5' 10" and only weighs 120 lbs. I should be so lucky, LOL!! This is a great soup for fall and is so good with a nice piece of corn bread.

This was a wonderful and flavourful soup. My Mom, who is used to the regular "ham hock" cooked split pea soup, loved this too. I think I have converted her because she even asked me for the recipe! Hehe. :)

But yeah... i loved this. I loved the addition of carrot as well as leaving the onion and potato in chunks. It added some interesting texture and the carrots added a bit of colour too.

This is a new favourite. Thanks so much for sharing it here!

(by the way, i halved the amount of butter and it was still nice and creamy and buttery smooth)
