How to make it

  • Par cook ribs until almost tender by covering with water and simmering on stovetop.
  • While ribs are simmering....make sauce
  • Drain in colander and rinse with cold water until cool enough to handle, pat dry with paper towels
  • Place in resealable bag with marinade and
  • marinate at least 4 hours or up to 24 hours, turning occasionally
  • Sauce
  • Saute onion and garlic in oil in medium saucepan
  • Add 1 T bourbon
  • Reduce heat, cover and simmer 8 to 10 minutes or until onion is tender
  • Add all remaining ingredients, except bourbon and ribs, mix well and bring to boil
  • Simmer, uncovered 20 to 30 minutes or until consistency of thick syrup, stirring frequently
  • Remove from heat, stir in bourbon
  • Set aside, reserving ¼ C for brushing on ribs
  • Preheat grill and cook over medium heat 25 to 35 minutes, turning and brushing with reserved sauce
  • Discard any leftover sauce
