Quick No Bake Garlic Cheese Grits

- 1 cup stone ground grits shopping list
- 3 cups milk shopping list
- 1/2 tsp salt shopping list
- 1/2 tsp granulated garlic shopping list
- 1 cup grated cheese, (Montery Jack, pepper Jack, Cheddar, Smoked Gouda, or whatever) shopping list
- 1/4 cup Grated Parmesan (optional) shopping list
How to make it
- Mix grits into milk. seasoned with salt and garlic. Bring to boil and immediately lower heat to simmer. stir frequently. Cook until smooth and thickened.
- Stir in cheese and stir until blended.
- Remove from heat.
- Note: No instant or quick cooking grits, please. This is what gives grits a bad name. The food police need to ban this stuff. IF stone ground is not available use regular grits.

As a Southern cook who works in the food business, I can tell you this is the only way to cook Garlic Cheese Grits. They are creamy and wonderful. Try them even if you're not a grits lover.

Bookmarked to try with the creole egg casserole. I don't remember liking grits when I was young, but that is probably because I had some of those instant grits! I'll let you know if I like them..
