How to make it

  • Mix grits into milk. seasoned with salt and garlic. Bring to boil and immediately lower heat to simmer. stir frequently. Cook until smooth and thickened.
  • Stir in cheese and stir until blended.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Note: No instant or quick cooking grits, please. This is what gives grits a bad name. The food police need to ban this stuff. IF stone ground is not available use regular grits.

    Bookmarked to try with the creole egg casserole. I don't remember liking grits when I was young, but that is probably because I had some of those instant grits! I'll let you know if I like them..

    As a Southern cook who works in the food business, I can tell you this is the only way to cook Garlic Cheese Grits. They are creamy and wonderful. Try them even if you're not a grits lover.
