Pizza Turnovers

- 1 to 1 1/4 lbs. bulk Italian sausage shopping list
- 1/2 cup chopped onion shopping list
- 1/2 cup chopped green pepper shopping list
- 1 can (8oz) tomato sauce shopping list
- 3 tablespoon dried bread crumbs shopping list
- 18 sheets phylo dough shopping list
- 3/4 cup melted unsalted butter, to brush dough shopping list
- 6 tablespoons parmesan cheese, to sprinkle on dough shopping list
- 3 (1oz ) mozzarella cheese shopping list
How to make it
- --------preheat oven to 375.F-----------
- In a large frying pan, brown the sausage with the onion and green pepper. Drain off fat.
- Stir in tomato sauce. Simmer for 5 minutes. Add 1 tablespoon berad crumbs.
- Spread each of 3 sheets of phylo dough with butter. sprinkle with bread crumbs. Stack them.
- Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Place 1/2 slice (cut into triangles) Mozzarella cheese onto one corner of the dough/ Top with 1/6 of the meat mixture.
- Fold phylo dough lengthwise over to cover the meat filling. Fold up flag style to make a trianglular packet.
- Brush with more butter. Place on baking sheet. Repeat with remaining phylo and filling to make 6 turnovers. Discard milky butter solids.
- Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown.
