How to make it

  • Cream butter and sugar, add eggs one at a time beating well after each addition.
  • Make a paste of cocoa and coloring and add to creamed mix. Mix well.
  • Combine buttermilk, salt and vanilla. Add buttermilk mixture alternately with flour.
  • Mix soda and vinegar to foam, fold into the mixture.
  • Pour into a 9-inchlayer pan,buttered and floured.
  • Bake in a 350 degree preheated oven for 30 minutes.
  • Butter cream frosting:
  • Cook flour and milk over low heat until thick, stirring constantly. Let cool.
  • Cream butter, sugar, and vanilla. Mix butter mixture with cooked mixture, beat until light and fluffy.
