Spicy Gingerbread Squares

- 2 cups all-purpose flour shopping list
- 1/2 cup sugar shopping list
- 1/2 tsp salt shopping list
- 1 tsp baking soda shopping list
- 2 tsp ground ginger shopping list
- 1 1/2 tsp ground cardamom shopping list
- 1 tsp ground allspice shopping list
- 1 Tbsp grated orange peel shopping list
- 3 eggs shopping list
- 1/2 cup light molasses shopping list
- 1 cup buttermilk shopping list
- 1 stick butter, melted shopping list
How to make it
- Stir together first 8 ingredients in a large mixing bowl.
- Put eggs in your mixer bowl and beat with mixer until they are thick and foamy.
- Keep the mixer running and add the molasses in a stream, then the buttermilk.
- Add half of the wet mixture to the dry ingredients and blend well with a spoon.
- Add the rest of the wet mixture in two more parts, beting well by hand after each addition.
- Gradually add the melted butter and beat with a spoon until your batter is blended and smooth.
- Pour into 8 inch square baking pan and bake in preheated 350 oven
- 45 to 50 minutes.
