A chewy chocolaty oatmeal cookie that is easy to make and difficult to keep on hand once everyone tastes them! Really nice served with vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup butter or margarine, softened*
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • ½ tsp vanilla
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon
  • 2 2/3 cups quick-cooking or old-fashioned oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour**
  • 1/2 cup baking cocoa
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350°.
  2. Beat sugar, butter, milk, vanilla and egg in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed, or mix with spoon. Stir in remaining ingredients.
  3. Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet.
  4. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until almost no indentation remains when touched in center. Cool 1 to 2 minutes; remove from cookie sheet to wire rack.
  5. *Spreads with at least 65% vegetable oil can be used.
  6. **If using self-rising flour, omit baking soda and salt.
