Knuckle Sandwich
From kathye 16 years agoIngredients
- 2 T butter shopping list
- 2 pears, sliced into 3/16-inch slices, core removed shopping list
- 4 slices store-bought pound cake (slice like conventional sandwich bread) shopping list
- 4 T nutella (chocolate-hazelnut spread in a jar and available in markets) shopping list
- 1/3 cup whole hazelnuts, toasted, with skins off shopping list
How to make it
- In a small non-stick skillet, toast the hazelnuts for about 5 minutes on medium-low heat
- When nuts cool, roll them between the palms of your hands to remove the skins
- In a saute pan over medium heat, melt butter and saute pear slices for approximately 3 minutes per side, or until they begin to brown
- In a toaster, toast 4 pound cake slices
- Take 2 toasted slices, smear with Nutella, sprinkle generously with hazelnuts
- Top with pear slices and cover with a second slice of pound cake
- Cut each "knuckle" sandwich into 4 pieces on the diagonal
- Crunch away!!!
- Hint: according to the Nutella website, store opened jars at room temperature to avoid the spread watering or getting too thick and unspreadable. If you're like me the jar won't last that long!! :)
