Inari-zushi Recipe

Inari-Zushi Recipe
Add Step-by-Step Photos

This is a very kid-friendly sushi. There are no exotic flavors in it, and it's a little sweet so most people love inari-zushi. You can find the aburaƔge at most Japanese supermarkets.

Ingredients
  • 1 package aburage
  • 3 cups rice or sushi rice

Directions
  1. Depending on the package of aburage you buy, it might or might not have a small package of sushi vinegar seasoning included. If it does, then you can cook rice and just stir it in thoroughly. If not, cook the sushi rice.
  2. Bring a pot of hot water to boiling.
  3. In the package of aburage, you will find the aburage in a clear plastic package. Do not open this package. Put this package in the boiling water, and boil for 5 minutes.
  4. Remove the package from the boiling water, cool for a few minutes.
  5. Cut open the package, being careful not to spill any of the juices in the package.
  6. For each piece of aburage, carefully open from the cut side, being careful not to tear it. Open as fully as possible, to make it easier to fill. BEWARE: the aburage will be hot!
  7. Fill with sushi rice. I usually use a regular spoon to fill them, as it is easier to get the rice in this way.
  8. Eat! You can eat them plain, or with shoyu.

This sounds really interesting; I will have to try it. Thanks for sharing your recipes with us! :-)

We just bought some of the ingredients to make sushi this past week, now with your recipes I feel more inspired to give it a try again. We love sushi and now its up to getting better at rolling and using some new and interesting ingredients.

This is very close, well it is exact except for topping, to one of my favorite sushis. The one that I usually get has some salmon eggs on it and a smooth creamy sauce. The are so yummy. It is alson one of the few ways I will eat ToFu. I am going to have to order me some aburge and make some of my own inari-zushi. I can't wait...I am drooling now.

I never made this but have tried this on the outside and it was very good.
I am glad you posted it because I always wante to ma it.

Michael
