Ingredients
  • 6 to 8 fresh firm ripe peaches
  • 1/2 to 1 cup of sugar to taste ( I use 1 cup )
  • 1 stick butter or margarine melted
  • Batter:
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla or almond flavor
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg

Directions
  1. Wash peaches ( do not skin ), dry and cut up into wedges.
  2. Melt butter or margarine and pour into a 9 inch square pan.
  3. Mix sugar with cut up peaches.
  4. Combine dry ingredients and mix in milk and egg into a thick batter.
  5. Pour batter over melted butter or margarine.
  6. Layer on the peaches, spooning on any juices/sugar.
  7. Bake in a 350F oven about 45 minutes or top is golden and set.
  8. Cool to warm.
  9. Cut into wedges to serve.
  10. Serve warm or at room temperature.
  11. Garnish if desired, with whipped cream or ice cream.
  12. Note: topping is cake like but you could use any good biscuit topping recipe if you prefer.
  13. Plus you could easily substitute other fresh fruit such as plums, nectarines, etc.

This looks devine! I can't wait to make this one! Thank you for posting..

Sounds great! I'll have to try this with summer fruits. I think blackberries would be tasty.

Hi Midge! I made your cobbler recipe tonight for guests. It was fantastic and a sure keeper. I made one with peaches and almond extract and one with blackberries and vanilla extract. They were both a hit and there were no left overs. I caught my son in law with the last little bit of the blackberry cobbler and he had no intentions of sharing it. After trying various cobbler recipes, yours is the one I have finally decided to stick with. If I could give you another 5 I would. It was perfect in every way. Thank you so much!

You are so very welcome! I am so happy you loved it. I enjoy sharing my best recipes as others do!
