Tea Eggs Recipe
These boiled eggs will take on the flavor of tea. The whites as well will be tea colored. It's a very interesting contrast to "normal" hard-boiled eggs.

Ingredients
  • 12 eggs
  • 1 tsp anise seed
  • 2 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 5 Tbsp tea leaves
  • 2 Tbsp salt

Directions
  1. Boil the eggs 10 minutes in water, then take them out and roll them gently on the table in a cloth to crack the shells all over
  2. Put the Anise seed, tea, salt, and soy sauce in boiling water.
  3. Cook the eggs in this mix for 90 minutes on a very low flame.
  4. There is no need to adjust the recipe to cook fewer eggs.

Wow. This is a very nifty idea. I've never heard of this. I'm making these for lunch. I'll let you know how they turn out.


OH my goddd, Scearley, I just posted a tea egg recipe with chicken wings on my blog, then I realised you did this too, splendid :)) I love my tea eggs with green tea leaves. So, what tea leaves did you used ? Cheers ! :)


OK, I have never heard of doing anything like this!! How exactly do you serve these? Do you make deviled eggs out of them?
