How to make it

  • Sifting the flour. Add to the yeast, salt, and sugar.
  • Beat the egg and water and mix quickly into the dry ingredients.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth.
  • Knead the butter into the dough until soft and smooth.
  • Place dough in greased bowl, cover, and let rise for one hour or until doubled in size.
  • For the filling, cream the butter and sugar.
  • Add the coconut and mix well. Next add in the milk.
  • After the dough has finished rising the first time, divide it into 6 oval portions.
  • Roll out dough to 1/2 to3/4 inch rounds. Add a portion of filling inside. Wrap dough around filling. .
  • Gently roll the dough into a tube shape. Place on a greased baking sheet.
  • Let roll rise a second time for 15 minutes.
  • For the topping, cream the sugar and butter and then mix in the flour.
  • Make 2 stripes of the topping on each roll and then brush with the beaten egg.
  • Bake at 400 degress for 15-20 minutes
