Coconut Cocktail Buns

- Bread: shopping list
- 1 1/3 C. all purpose flour shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
- 1/3 C. water, warm shopping list
- 1 Tbsp sugar shopping list
- 1/2 Tbsp yeast shopping list
- 2 tsp salt shopping list
- 1 Tbsp butter shopping list
- Filling: shopping list
- 1/4 C. butter shopping list
- 3 Tbsp sugar shopping list
- 1/4 C. dessicated coconut shopping list
- 2 Tbsp milk shopping list
- Topping: shopping list
- 2 Tbsp sugar shopping list
- 1/3 C flour shopping list
- 1/4 C butter shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
How to make it
- Sifting the flour. Add to the yeast, salt, and sugar.
- Beat the egg and water and mix quickly into the dry ingredients.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth.
- Knead the butter into the dough until soft and smooth.
- Place dough in greased bowl, cover, and let rise for one hour or until doubled in size.
- For the filling, cream the butter and sugar.
- Add the coconut and mix well. Next add in the milk.
- After the dough has finished rising the first time, divide it into 6 oval portions.
- Roll out dough to 1/2 to3/4 inch rounds. Add a portion of filling inside. Wrap dough around filling. .
- Gently roll the dough into a tube shape. Place on a greased baking sheet.
- Let roll rise a second time for 15 minutes.
- For the topping, cream the sugar and butter and then mix in the flour.
- Make 2 stripes of the topping on each roll and then brush with the beaten egg.
- Bake at 400 degress for 15-20 minutes
