- 1/2 cup chopped onion shopping list
- 1 Tablespoon butter or margarine shopping list
- 3/4 Ib. lean ground beef shopping list
- 2 cloves garlic, minced or pressed shopping list
- 1 Tablespoon chili powder shopping list
- 1/2 cup corn, fresh, canned or frozen shopping list
- 1/4 teaspoon each salt, dried sage leaves and black pepper shopping list

- 1 3/4 cups unbleached flour shopping list
- 1/4 cup cracked wheat shopping list
- 1 teaspoon baking powder shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. salt shopping list
- 1 tablespoon soft butter or margarine shopping list
- 3/4 cup warm water shopping list
- oil shopping list
- -----Toppings----- shopping list
- 2 medium tomatoes, seeded,diced shopping list
- 1 avocado, diced shopping list
- Chopped black olives shopping list
- Grated cheddar cheese shopping list
- sour cream, optional shopping list
- lettuce, optional shopping list
How to make it
- Saute onion in the butter until onion is soft. Add the beef and garlic, cooking until meat is browned. Drain excess fat. Stir in chili powder, corn, salt, sage and black pepper. Cover and keep warm.
- To prepare the bread, mix together flour, cracked wheat, baking powder and salt. Add butter and water to form a soft dough. Divide into 4 portions. Roll each into a round about 1/8 inch thick. Fry in hot oil until puffy and brown. Set on paper toweling to drain.
- Sprinkle each fried bread with 1/4 of the meat mixture. Top with tomatoes and avocados. Add optional toppings, if desired.
