It turned out great! had to cook it longer than I expected but it was worth it! Everyone loved it especially Grandpa who loves chocolate pie. The crust was very simple:
    graham crackers
    4 tablespoon real butter
    sprinkle of sugar
    2 tbsp real maple syrup
    1 tsp cinnamon
    2 egg whites
handful of crushed almonds for fun

bake it for 10 minutes at 375ยบ

Whipped cream was heavy whipping cream 2 small containers
half a shot glass of real vanilla in a glass with 3 heaping tsp of sugar (dissolve sugar the best you can in the vanilla and add it to the heavy whipping cream. Whip it in a kitchen aid until fluffy.
    YUMMO!

fresh eggs from the neighborhood farm, all organic ingredients, fair trade chocolate, and raw milk used too:) DELISH!

Desireewinans: I don't know what you did. Did you add the cornstarch? This has been made a jillion times and never had that problem. You've gotta add the cornstarch and I promise you it will thicken. When it starts going it goes FAST!

I made this yesterday and it didn't turn out. The directions call for you to combine all ingredients and cook in a double boiler until thick. It never did get thick. I must have cooked for around 15 minutes and I started to get worried that I could over cook/burn the chocolate. So I must have poured into my crust prematurely. I refrigerated over night and it never did set:( SO I had to do damage control. I scraped the chocolate out of the pie crust and combined it with the homemade whipped cream that I made in the kitchen aid mixer for about a minute. Once whipped up nice and lite, I put that into the pie crust and refrigerator. When THAT did not set, I put it in the freezer. Now it's firm and the best I can tell it will be like a frozen mousse-like pie. I will cover with the rest of my homemade whipped cream and garnish with chocolate shavings. It's for a dinner party tonight so wish me luck~
I'll let you know how it goes over.
My critique for this recipe is a more specific time to cook it so that people dont start to wonder.

This sounds like the one my husband eats at - yes, church suppers! He tells everyone else to get as much as they want the first time, because he gets the rest. My mom makes a sugar-free version that is pretty good, too.

This sounds like a recipe I have been trying to get for a while. One of my old elementary school teachers makes this awesome chocolate pie that my daughter just loves but she would not share the recipe. Maybe this is it. LOL
