This is a lovely European snack pastry.
Ingredients
- 1 package of puff pastry shopping list
- 4 oz powdered sugar shopping list
- 1 egg yolk, beaten shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 350F.
- Step 1: Roll out the puff pastry on the counter. Brush away all excess flour.
- Step 2: Glaze with beaten egg yolk and sprinkle with sugar.
- Step 3: Fold the dough, bringing the top half to the middle of the strip.
- Step 4: Glaze again and sprinkle with sugar.
- Step 5: Fold the bottom half up to meet the first fold, You should have a strip with two folds that is two strips thick.
- Step 6: Glaze with egg yolk and coat with sugar. Cut into 3/4 inch thick pieces.
- Step 7: Alternate on a slightly greased baking sheet, folds facing up and made into a small heart shape..
- Step 8: Bake until heart-shaped, golden brown and shiny.
- Step 9: When finished, remove from the baking sheet with a metal spatula and leave to cool.
- Step 10: Bon Appétit!
