Spicy Wine Pot Roast In The Crock Pot Recipe
SPICY WINE POT ROAST IN THE CROCK POT This recipe came from an estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Pinion Estate in Mesquite, Texas in 1994.

Ingredients
  • 3 pound beef roast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 medium white onion chopped
  • 1 package brown gravy mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup red wine
  • 2 teaspoons prepared mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried mixed herbs
  • Chopped parsley to garnish

Directions
  1. Sprinkle meat with salt and pepper then place in crock pot.
  2. Combine remaining ingredients except parsley then pour over meat.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 10 hours then remove meat and slice.
  4. Thicken sauce with flour mixed in a small amount of water and serve over meat.
  5. Sprinkle with chopped parsley.

Really good flavor - but I left out the packet gravy (I never buy those things) and used creole mustard. I subbed a can of stewed tomatoes for the tomato sauce too.
