Mexican Red Sauce

- 1 28 OZ can tomatoes,plum,diced,whatever its going in a blender shopping list
- 1 6 OZ can tomato paste shopping list
- 1 medium onion,chopped shopping list
- 1/2 cup water shopping list
- 1/4 cup olive oil shopping list
- 2 cloves garlic,crushed shopping list
- 1/4 cup cilantro,chopped shopping list
- 1 tsp. lemon juice shopping list
- 1/4 cup green bell pepper,chopped shopping list
- 2 carrots,peeled and chopped shopping list
- 1 medium jalapeno,deribbed and deseeded,chopped shopping list
- 1 Tbl. (or more to taste) cumin shopping list
- 1 tsp.oregano shopping list
- 1 tsp.chili powder shopping list
- 1 tsp.paprika shopping list
- 1/4 cup sugar or honey shopping list
- salt,to taste shopping list
How to make it
- Combine all ingredients in food processor or blender,blend until smooth.
- Pour sauce into a 2 qt. saucepan.Bring to a boil,then reduce heat to simmer and allow to cook for 20 minutes.
- Let cool if putting into jars and chilling.
- note:when I made this I had no jalapenos,so I used siracha,came out great.
- Also-recipe orginally called for 1/4 cup sugar;I used about a tablespoon of sugar & honey each.
