Greek Burgers with Yogurt Sauce

- Burgers: shopping list
- 1 lb ground beef shopping list
- 2 tsps ground cumin shopping list
- 1 T chopped fresh oregano or 1 tsp dried leaf oregano shopping list
- 1/2 tsp salt shopping list
- Dash of ground red pepper shopping list
- Dash of black pepper shopping list
- 2 T red wine shopping list
- pita bread shopping list
- lettuce shopping list
- chopped tomatoes shopping list
- yogurt Sauce: shopping list
- 2 cups plain yogurt shopping list
- 1 cup chopped red onion shopping list
- 1 cup chopped cucumber shopping list
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh mint or 1 1/2 T dried leaf mint shopping list
- 1 T chopped fresh marjoram or 1 tsp dried leaf marjoram shopping list
How to make it
- Prepare Yogurt Sauce:
- Combine Yogurt Sauce ingredients in small bowl. Cover; chill up to 4 hours before ready to serve.
- For the burgers:
- Soak 4 bamboo skewers in water. Combine meat, seasonings and wine in medium bowl; mix lightly. Divide mixture into eight equal portions; form each portion into an oval, each about 4 inches long. Cover; chill 30 minutes.
- Preheat grill. Insert skewers lengthwise through centers of ovals, placing 2 on each skewer. Grill about 8 minutes or to desired doneness, turning once. Fill pita bread with lettuce, meat and chopped tomatoes. Serve with Yogurt Sauce. (Try a small squeeze of lemon or even lime in your yogurt sauce!)
