Hungarian Goulash Soup

- 4 onions, peeled and chopped shopping list
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed shopping list
- 1/2 cup salad oil shopping list
- 3 tbsp. paprika shopping list
- 3 lb. lean beef chuck, cut into cubes shopping list
- 2 tomatoes, peeled and chopped shopping list
- 4 potatoes, peeled and cubed shopping list
- 2 tsp. caraway seeds shopping list
- 1 1/2 tsp. marjoram shopping list
- 1 tsp. minced lemon peel; shopping list
- 8 cups water shopping list
- 2 tsp. salt shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. pepper shopping list
How to make it
- Sate onions and garlic in a large soup kettle. Stir in paprika, cook 1 minute. Wipe dry beef cubes and brown. Add tomatoes, caraway, marjoram, lemon peel, water, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil. Lower heat and cook slowly, covered until meat is tender (45 to 60 minutes). Add potatoes and continue to cook about 20 minutes longer, until potatoes are tender.
