Cherry-Almond Bread

This is a very moist and tasty bread. Enjoy
Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar shopping list
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened shopping list
- 2 eggs shopping list
- 2 cups all-purpose flour shopping list
- 1 tsp baking soda shopping list
- 1/2 tsp salt shopping list
- 1 cup buttermilk shopping list
- 1 cup chopped almonds shopping list
- 1 jar (10oz) maraschino cherries, drained and chopped shopping list
- 1 tsp almond extract shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- In a large bowl, cream sugar, butter and eggs until light and fluffy.
- In a separate bowl, sift together flour baking soda, and salt. Blend into creamed mixture with buttermilk. Stir in almonds, cherries and almond extract.
- Pour batter into a greased and floured loaf pan and bake 55 - 60 minutes, testing for doneness with a toothpick. Remove from pan and cool on a wire rack.
- Yield: 1 loaf of bread
