This is a 98 Cooking Light recipe.. Almost fat-free and its very easy to make.... Most of the time you have all of the ingredients on hand and thats what makes this cake a success.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup fat free milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
  • 1 1/2 cups hot water

Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Lightly spoon flour into a dry measuring cup, and level with a knife.
  3. Combine the first 5 ingredients in a medium bowl.
  4. Stir in milk and vanilla extract.
  5. Spoon the batter into a 9 inch square baking dish.
  6. Combine brown sugar and 3 tablespoons cocoa, and sprinkle over cake batter.
  7. Pour water over batter (do not stir).
  8. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes or until cake springs back when lightly touched in center.
  9. Serve warm.
  10. 12 servings.
