Ingredients

25 CUCUMBERS SMALL. NO BIGGER THAN 6 INCHES.

BRINE

ALUM

2 QUARTS WHITE SUGAR

2 STICKS CINNAMON

1 TBSP. WHOLE CLOVES

1 QUART VINEGAR (OR MORE{

1 EGG RAW IN SHELL

Directions

PLACE CUCUMBERS IN BRINE SALTY ENOUGH TO FLOAT THE EGG. LEAVE FOR 5 DAYS.

REMOVE FROM BRINE AND WASH IN FRESH COOL WATER, SLICE ¼ INCH OR THICKER.

PLACE IN FRESH WATER WITH ALUM, LET STAND OVERNIGHT.

HEAT YOUR VINEGAR, SUGAR AND SPICES, POUR OVER CUCUMBERS AND FOR 4 DAYS DRAIN, REHEAT AND REPEAT … ON THE 4TH SEAL IN CLEAN JARS.

I ADD GREEN FOOD COLORING, BUT RECIPE DOES NOT CALL FOR IT.

I forgot to add ... make sure the egg is raw and in the shell.. Don't laugh.. back when I was just learning to cook and was given the recipe.. I cracked it into the water... DUH! So all you bigginers.. see we all make mistakes!
