Ingredients
  • 25 CUCUMBERS SMALL. NO BIGGER THAN 6 INCHES.
  • BRINE
  • ALUM
  • 2 QUARTS WHITE SUGAR
  • 2 STICKS CINNAMON
  • 1 TBSP. WHOLE CLOVES
  • 1 QUART VINEGAR (OR MORE{
  • 1 EGG RAW IN SHELL

Directions
  1. PLACE CUCUMBERS IN BRINE SALTY ENOUGH TO FLOAT THE EGG. LEAVE FOR 5 DAYS.
  2. REMOVE FROM BRINE AND WASH IN FRESH COOL WATER, SLICE ¼ INCH OR THICKER.
  3. PLACE IN FRESH WATER WITH ALUM, LET STAND OVERNIGHT.
  4. HEAT YOUR VINEGAR, SUGAR AND SPICES, POUR OVER CUCUMBERS AND FOR 4 DAYS DRAIN, REHEAT AND REPEAT … ON THE 4TH SEAL IN CLEAN JARS.
  5. I ADD GREEN FOOD COLORING, BUT RECIPE DOES NOT CALL FOR IT.

Yum My mom use to make pickles as a kid and I have been wanting to make some and have not had the right type in my garden. I think I will get some started tomorrow


I forgot to add ... make sure the egg is raw and in the shell.. Don't laugh.. back when I was just learning to cook and was given the recipe.. I cracked it into the water... DUH! So all you bigginers.. see we all make mistakes!
