How to make it

  • PLACE CUCUMBERS IN BRINE SALTY ENOUGH TO FLOAT THE EGG. LEAVE FOR 5 DAYS.
  • REMOVE FROM BRINE AND WASH IN FRESH COOL WATER, SLICE ¼ INCH OR THICKER.
  • PLACE IN FRESH WATER WITH ALUM, LET STAND OVERNIGHT.
  • HEAT YOUR VINEGAR, SUGAR AND SPICES, POUR OVER CUCUMBERS AND FOR 4 DAYS DRAIN, REHEAT AND REPEAT … ON THE 4TH SEAL IN CLEAN JARS.
  • I ADD GREEN FOOD COLORING, BUT RECIPE DOES NOT CALL FOR IT.

    I forgot to add ... make sure the egg is raw and in the shell.. Don't laugh.. back when I was just learning to cook and was given the recipe.. I cracked it into the water... DUH! So all you bigginers.. see we all make mistakes!

    Yum My mom use to make pickles as a kid and I have been wanting to make some and have not had the right type in my garden. I think I will get some started tomorrow
