This is a nice combination for yummy summer fruits. There are cherry stands everywhere in the summertime where I live.

Ingredients
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 tbs. cornstartch
  • 1/2 c. warm water
  • 2 c. fresh cherries, pitted
  • 1 medium to large nectarine (total of about 3 c. of fruit)
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 4 tbs. butter
  • 3/4 c. milk
  • 2 tsp. sugar

Directions
  1. Combine 1/2 c. sugar and cornstarch in saucepan
  2. Slowly add water and stir until simmering
  3. Let simmer for about a minute
  4. Remove from heat and mix in fruit
  5. Place fruit mixture in 8x8 glass baking dish
  6. Dot with a little butter if desired
  7. In medium bowl, combine flour baking powder and cinnamon
  8. Cut in butter until mixture looks crumblike
  9. Stir in milk
  10. Drop by spoonfuls onto fruit mixture
  11. Evenly sprinkle sugar and a dash of cinnamon on top
  12. Bake at 400 for about 35 min.
  13. Cool on rack
