How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • In a large skillet, brown onion over high heat until translucent.
  • Add beef & cook until browned.
  • Add tomatoes (w/juice), tomato paste, salt & pepper, oregano & basil.
  • When combined add beef broth.
  • Add mushrooms
  • Turn down the heat & let simmer while you make the cheese sauce:
  • Melt margarine in a large heavy saucepan over high-ish heat.
  • Add flour gradually.
  • When flour is absorbed, add milk slowly, adding more whenever it is all combined. Whisk constantly.
  • When milk is all in the pan, add cheese & stir until melted.
  • Remove from the heat & set aside.
  • Put some pan liquid in the bottom of a 13x9 baking dish, then layer:
  • noodles, then meat sauce (with plenty of liquid).
  • Repeat these layers until the ingredients are gone.
  • Pour cheese sauce over the top.
  • Bake for 45 minutes.

This sounds pretty tasty to me. I am going to London tomorrow. I only had one not very good meal there the first time I went. I am looking forward to afternoon tea at the Waldorf this time.
