Frosted Orange Salad

- 3 packages (3-oz. each) orange gelatin shopping list
- 3 cups boiling water shopping list
- 1 can (20-oz) crushed pineapple shopping list
- 3 cups cold water shopping list
- 4 med. firm bananas, sliced shopping list
- 2 1/2 cups minature marshmallows shopping list
- 1/2 cup sugar shopping list
- 1 Tbsp. all-purpose flour shopping list
- 1 egg, beaten shopping list
- 1 package (8-oz.) cream cheese, softened shopping list
- 1 container Cool Whip or 1 cup heavy whipping cream, whipped shopping list
- 3/4 cup chopped pecans, toasted shopping list
- 1/2 cup flaked coconut, toasted shopping list
How to make it
- In a bowl, dissolve gelatins in boiling water.
- Drain pineapple, reserving juice.
- Stir cold water, bananas, marshmallows and pineapple into gelatin.
- Pour into a 13x9x2-in. dish coated lightly with non-stick cooking spray; refrigerate until firm.
- Meanwhile, in a saucepan, combine sugar and flour.
- Stir in reserved pineapple juice untilm smooth.
- Bring to a boil over medium heat; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened and bubbly.
- Reduce heat; cook and stir 2 minutes longer.
- Remove from the heat.
- Stir in a small amount of hot filling into the egg; return to the pan, stirring constantly.
- Bring to a gentle boil; cook and stir 2 minutes longer.
- Cool.
- In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth; add cooled filling.
- Fold in whipped topping or cream.
- Spread over set gelatin (dish will be full).
- Sprinkle with toasted nuts and coconut.
