How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 400.
  • Mix butter and cream cheese with hands. When thoroughly mixed, add flour and continue mixing with hands.
  • Let stand in refrigerator until chilled.
  • Roll out on powdered sugar surface and cut into 2 in. squares and spread about 1 teaspoon of pastry filling (poppy seed, apricot, date, almond, cheese etc.) in middle. Bring together opposite corners in the middle and pinch together.
  • If dough begins to get to room temperature, put dough back in refrigerator.
  • Bake for about 10 minute or until light brown. It may not take 10 minutes to bake. This is just my guesstimate. I usually just keep an eye on them so that they don’t burn.

    Absolutely love kolachy!!! I can never keep them in the house - gone in minutes. I love the ones with apricot, poppyseed, and the ones with the walnut filling from nut rolls. YUM!
