These are rich and chewy and delicious!!! I got the recipe from my mom's old Betty Crocker Cooky Book. Sinful!!

Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 cup light brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 cup coarsely chopped walnuts

Directions
  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Melt butter over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in sugar until well blended; cool.
  3. Stir in egg.
  4. Measure flour and then stir baking powder, salt, and flour together; blend in.
  5. Mix in vanilla and walnuts.
  6. Spread in a well-greased square pan.
  7. Bake 25 minutes. DO NOT OVERBAKE!
  8. Cut into bars while warm.

Great recipe! Thanks for posting. Good old Betty Crocker is a great source for good recipes! I have many cookbooks, but my old Betty Crocker I got when I was in high school is my go-to cookbook. It has stains and stuck-together pages and the first few pages missing, but you can count on the recipes to be good.


We would love these because we're not big on chocolate, but love caramel and butterscotch and vanilla things. And if it's Betty, it's gotta be good! Thanks!
