- 4 egg yolks shopping list
- 1/4 cup heavy cream shopping list
- 1/3 cup sugar shopping list
- 1 2/3 cups sifted flour shopping list
- 1/4 tsp salt shopping list
- 1/4 tsp freshly grated nutmeg (or to taste) shopping list
- oil for frying shopping list
- Confectioner's sugar shopping list
How to make it
- Beat the egg yolks until light
- Add cream and sugar until light and beat well
- Add flour, salt, nutmeg
- Dough is very easy to handle. Roll a small amount at a time to a little less that 1/8" thickness.
- Cut in 1"x3" strips, cutting the ends off diagonally
- Cut a slit lengthwise in the middle of each strip and twist (pull) one end through completely.
- Deep fry until light brown.
- Drain
- When Cool, sprinkle with icing sugar.
- These can be frozen (carefully packed) without the sugar. Thaw and add sugar when ready to serve.

These sound very good! Most of the German desserts I have had experience with were luscious! I grew up next door to a German lady who was a wonderful cook.

My heritage is Mennonite( Dutch, German etc)and we call these Rollkuchen and eat them with Arbuse(watermelon) Just like my Oma and mom made. Thanks and welcome fellow Canadian!
