How to make it

  • Beat the egg yolks until light
  • Add cream and sugar until light and beat well
  • Add flour, salt, nutmeg
  • Dough is very easy to handle. Roll a small amount at a time to a little less that 1/8" thickness.
  • Cut in 1"x3" strips, cutting the ends off diagonally
  • Cut a slit lengthwise in the middle of each strip and twist (pull) one end through completely.
  • Deep fry until light brown.
  • Drain
  • When Cool, sprinkle with icing sugar.
  • These can be frozen (carefully packed) without the sugar. Thaw and add sugar when ready to serve.

    My heritage is Mennonite( Dutch, German etc)and we call these Rollkuchen and eat them with Arbuse(watermelon) Just like my Oma and mom made. Thanks and welcome fellow Canadian!

    These sound very good! Most of the German desserts I have had experience with were luscious! I grew up next door to a German lady who was a wonderful cook.
