How to make it

  • Cream butter and sugar together.
  • Add salt, egg yolks, flour, lemon peel, lemon juice and milk.
  • Fold in egg whites which have been beaten till stiff.
  • Bake in a lightly buttered casserole dish, set in a pan of hot water.
  • Bake for about one hour at 325 degrees.

    great questions!
    esp for those who never made the custard type of cake recipes!

    1. yes easy
    2.not a soupy batter
    3.fold in means to use a whisk to gently turn the whites into the mixture, never beating them in the batter
    4. bake in a water bath, that means to set the cake pan into another pan partially filled with water so no direct heat hits the first baking pan. A standard method used when baking custards and many cheesecakes etc.
    5. 6 tbs flour equals a bit less htan 1/2 cup flour- suffiecnet in this recipes!

    so go make the dessert and see how you like it!

    how would you define folding in..??
    float it in water when baking??

    only 6 tablespoons of flour??
